Making Your Project
More Affordable.
There’s more than one way to invest in the freedom to move safely at home.
Three ways people pay for this.
There are three main ways to pay for work like this: directly, through a health plan, or through benefits earned in military service. Figuring out which one fits is the complicated part, and that’s our job — we’ll walk you through it before you spend anything.
Private Pay
Private pay means you’re covering the cost of the project yourself, without a program or benefit involved — and you can do that in full or over time. Financing is an option within private pay, not a separate path: we work with a lending marketplace that takes one application and comes back with offers from several lenders, so you can compare monthly payments. Checking your rate is a soft credit check that won’t affect your credit score, and you’re under no obligation to accept anything. Depending on your situation, there may also be tax savings worth asking your accountant about.
See Your Monthly Payment OptionsFinancing is provided by Acorn Finance and its lending partners. Rates and terms are set by the lender and subject to their approval.
Health Plans
If you’re covered by NJ FamilyCare, New Jersey’s Medicaid program, there may be coverage available for home accessibility work. Eligibility rules vary by program and change from time to time, so the only way to know is to ask. We’ll help you figure out which program might apply, coordinate with your plan’s care manager, and handle the paperwork. Approvals take time, so the earlier we start, the better.
VA Benefits
The VA funds home accessibility work through several programs. What’s covered depends on your circumstances and your VA care team, so it’s worth asking about rather than assuming. One thing to know first: don’t purchase equipment before the VA approves it, because the VA generally can’t reimburse something you’ve already bought. If a VA program might apply to you, wait for approval — even if that means we don’t sell you anything today. Your county Veterans Service Officer can help you file at no cost.
